ECOPLUS PPC Cement


 

In 400 BC, Romans in Italy, at Pozzuoli had found out that volcanic ash mixed with lime provided with strong and durable concrete which could be used in building and underwater constructions, in particular piers for their harbour. These building and construction have withstood the test of time (2100 years) and still present to this day, for example, the Pantheon in Rome.

This is due to a reaction termed as pozzolanic effect. In this reaction insoluble calcium silicate hydrate and calcium aluminate hydrate compounds are formed possessing cementitious properties, imparting multiple advantageous characteristics to concrete.

In the modern era, Pozzalans like fly ash been used efficiently to clinker to gain all the advantages in the form of PPC (Portland Pozzalana Cement).

 

ECO PLUS is special cement, produced by grinding Clinker with high quality processed fly ash, based on norms set by our R&D department. This unique, value-added product has hydraulic binding properties not found in ordinary cements.

What are the advantages of using ECO PLUS Fly-ash based PPC?

In concrete made from ordinary cements, moisture reacts with calcium hydroxide in concrete to form calcium bicarbonate. This leaches out of the concrete, leaving pores that reduce its strength. These pores expose the metal reinforcement to moisture and water leading to corrosion.

ECO PLUS Fly-ash based PPC has ingredients which react with calcium hydroxide to form Calcium-Silicate-Hydrate (C-S-H) gel, to provide additional strength, which actually makes the concrete grow in strength over the years. It also produces less heat of hydration and offers greater resistance to the attack of aggressive waters than normal Portland cement.

 

What can be ECO PLUS Fly-ash based PPC used for?

ECO PLUS  Fly-ash based PPC easily replaces OPC and provides additional advantages for practically all types of construction applications – commercial, residential, bungalows, complexes, foundation, columns, beams, slabs and RCC jobs. It is especially recommended for mass concreting work, and where soil conditions and the prevailing environment take heavy toll of constructions made with ordinary cements.

 

How does ECO PLUS Fly-ash based PPC stand up to corrosive environments?

Due to the formation of Calcium-Silicate-Hydrate (C-S-H) gel, no pores are formed; hence this gel seals the metal reinforcement in the concrete from the environment all-together.

ECO PLUS Fly-ash based PPC makes very corrosion resistant concrete that is superior to concrete made with OPC. It is more impermeable to oxygen, CO2, chlorides, etc. Leaching of alkalis is reduced and the alkaline environment around steel is maintained.
